Will I be married to my wife in Heaven? What if I had two wives on earth?

Many Christians and Catholics ponder what happens to marriage in heaven, especially after losing a spouse or experiencing divorce. Scripture, particularly in Luke 20:27-38 and Matthew 22:30, indicates that earthly marriages do not continue in heaven; instead, we will be united in spirit.

Heaven operates differently than Earth, and we must live with eternity in mind. If your spouse was saved, you will reunite in heaven for the grand wedding feast of the Lamb, as described in Revelation 19:6-9.

When the Sadducees questioned Jesus about a woman married to multiple brothers, they aimed to challenge His teachings on resurrection. Jesus clarifies that in the age to come, people will neither marry nor be given in marriage. However, love will endure because God embodies love, and in heaven, we will love more deeply than ever, as stated in 1 Corinthians 2:9.

Initially, the idea of losing marriage in heaven saddened me, as I valued it highly. However, marriage reflects God's relationship with the church (Ephesians 5) and serves purposes like procreation and combating earthly desires (2 Timothy 2:22). As we anticipate eternal joys, we must cherish God's gifts now while remembering we are still running our earthly race (Hebrews 12:1-3).
