It is said that New Orleanians come out of the womb knowing how to make red beans and rice; the same goes for Mississippians. Whether it's shrimp and grits or chicken-fried steak, Southern cooking is as diverse as those who cook it. There are not many places in the US where you can walk, or take your GolfCart, to the pier and buy fresh-caught fish direct from shrimpers. And there is something about a classic dish of baked macaroni and cheese, or Buttermilk Biscuit and Gravy, or even Old-Fashioned Chicken And Dumplings.
